Seline & Seline HD
When the iPad only appeared, I was thrilled with the seemingly enormous screen estate and instantly decided to create a musical instrument that could be played by anyone.
The "ergonomic" layout of the keys seemed a fresh idea. I have tailored this instrument specifically for soft, mellow, new-age like sounds. Not only it could be played as a futuristic flute or harp, it also allowed a variety of sound-extraction methods, pitch bending, modulations. There have been more than 30 preset sounds with a possibility of IAP, and the additional fully automatic "drones" provided the atmosphere and harmonic accompanement.
In Seline HD, I fully redesigned the playing surface, to make it look more skeuomorphic. Ironically, this trend soon faded out, and the original version with its flat design became a cult for some people.
This product became very popular in schools and universitites, they bought it in bulk, using Apple's educational program discounts.
To promote the app, I established "The Ipad Orchestra". We performed only once, on 4 iPads, playing a mellow classical piece I specifically wrote for that event. I am the "Flute" guy on the screenshot. The video went viral.
